The Red Barn at Outlook Farm Wedding

Kelsey and Brian tied the knot in one of my favorite states- Maine. You really can’t have a mediocre day in ‘vacationland’. The day started with clear skies and mild temps. It was late summer, borderline early fall, and the air was still warm in the breeze. The bridesmaids and groomsman both a calm energy as they got ready for the day ahead. After we spent some time at the hotel and got all dolled up, the crew departed north.

Driving over the Piscataqua River Bridge I got a nice look over Portsmouth, and felt a little gitty heading towards Outlook Farm. We were about to do a first touch- always a favorite time of mine. Under the shade of the big oak, Brian and Kelsey stood back to back and exchanged a few words. As excited as I was about the moment and the photos I was capturing, there was a calmness in the air that was present. Sure as could be, that same calm excitement followed through the ceremony, again under this big, beautiful old oak tree. A few vows and I do’s later, and the cheer from the first kiss rung through the trees.

Once everyone had downed a few shrimp and tiny sandwiches, we headed inside for a set of entrances that made me laugh out loud- literally. We didn’t have much time to catch our breath, as we were then served a couple of classically hilarious best man/maid of honor toasts. It surely had been a great day, especially after wrapping up a few lovely first dances.

Now, as I mentioned, the day had a very calming kind of excitement to it. Easy on the ears and the eyes, the day felt right. Well, none of this prepared me for the dance party that was about to ensue. Maybe it was the ice cream bar. Maybe it was the guests who were ready to get down. Maybe it was the venue (I swear every time I shoot here there is an epic dance party!). Whatever it was, it surely was a great way to end a very fun day. Congrats Kelsey, Brian- I hope the rest of your days are as great as your first as husband and wife!
